How to play Kalooki Rummy

There are two ways to win a hand of rummy kalooki. They are called Hunt and Going Out. Hunt is claimed when a player has melded all of the cards in their hand and is able to lay them all down at on the table at once. Their last card is laid on the discard pile. This all happened during one turn and there are no cards left over. Going Out occurs when a player melds the cards in their hand at a more gradual place over several turns and is later able to rid of the last card in their hand on the discard pile.

Unlike other versions of Rummy, in Kalooki, players cannot lay cards off after one person wins. Once someone goes out or hunts, the round is complete and those left with cards cannot get rid of anything they are holding, even if they have cards that could be melded together. If the winner won by Hunt, they will get 40 points while those left with cards get penalty points in the amount of the card values they hold multiplied by two. If the winner went out, they get 20 points and the other players get penalty points based on the value of the cards they have left.
